Today Tula State University (est. 1930) is one of the leading universities in the country, the center of science, education, and culture of Tula Region.

A long time ago, in 1962 the first students from Bulgaria arrived to study at Tula State University, and year by year the number of students from different countries of the world has been constantly increasing.

At the moment, citizens of 70 countries of the world are studying at the Institute of International Education. The majority are from the countries of the Middle East, Africa, and Vietnam, as well as the CIS, and neighboring countries. The student population includes students from European countries as well (Bulgaria, Portugal, and Croatia).

Tula State University Medical Institute is equipped with advanced medical technologies to stay up-to-date with the current medical requirements of the world. It has a Scientific and educational center “TulaTECH”, 8 Scientific Laboratories, Ecology Monitoring Center to educate and train the medical students at the university. It also has a library for the academic interests of the students.

Tula State University has 18 academic buildings and 14 hostels to accommodate students with access to all the basic amenities. It also has a Fitness center, 2 swimming pools, and a Recreational complex on the Oka River for a healthy lifestyle for the students.
